“Suvashun”was an intervention on the launch of the book "Woman, Life, Freedom" Voices and Art from the Women’s Protests in Iran by Malu Halasa, editor of anthologies on Middle Eastern art and culture. Suvashun is the title of a 1969 Persian novel by Iranian writer Simin Daneshvar. It is the first novel in Persian written by a female author. it means “mourners of Siyâvash” and refers to an important ritual associated with the ancient Iranian hero where people mourn the death of the innocent hero, Siyavash, who was killed unjustly.
